Tripping
My 17 year old daughter has been working an internship with a
Republican 'person' in Washington, DC during the month of January. She
will be attending the inauguration and the inaugural ball tonight. I am
driving DC tonight to pick her up tomorrow and return to NC Friday
night.
All political commentary aside, I know this has been a wonderful experience for her.
--Thinking positive thoughts--
I mean, it isn't like she has grown a second chin or something. Is it?

Write Your Joke
Because of a post over at Kimmie's,
I am reminded of an emptiness in my being. For years, I have had this
wonderful punch-line for a joke rattling around in my head. I can never
settle on a joke to preceed it. So, here's the punch-line. You write
the joke.
"And the lady says, 'Hell no! Get your own damn monkey!'"

Accomplishment
There is great joy in completing even the simplest of challenges. I have known for some time that setting a goal for myself, no matter how small, goes a long way to fueling my sense of well being. I can remember coping with mild depression with small goals: I will shower. I will dress. I will cook a meal. I will eat. Didn’t I read somewhere once that there is in fact a bio-chemical reaction within the body that promotes a sense of well-being by the realization that we are making choices and following them through? Maybe. It seems to work. Accomplishment produces self-worth. Today I am aware of my accomplishments…some of them, anyway, and it feels good.

Walking The Dogma
Has it been years? Yes. Years ago I started an additional piece of Theophany. Some of you may have been here long enough to know, or delved deep enough into the layers of my blog to discover that I spent many years as a pastor with a mainline denomination. I don't deal much with religion here. Promoting a specific religious view is not the purpose of this space, nor is it my desire. However, because (for a period of time) some folks have asked for more of my ideas and thoughts on 'religious' matters, I started Dogma. The Dogma hasn't 'barked' for some time, but because I had the occasion to write a message recently I have entered a new post over at Dogma. Feel free to drop by if you have a mind to encounter such a thing.

Told to me today...
A friend told me this today.
"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea."
I just thought I would share.

Just Regular, Please
No thank you. I do not want it super sized, mega-made, biggied or mutated. I just want this day regular, normal, simple, as it arrived…
